Dentsply Start-X™ ultrasonic tips are specialized dental instruments designed for endodontic procedures, particularly for access cavity refinement and locating canal orifices. The system is based on the principle of "one tip, one clinical indication," with each tip designed for a specific application. 

Features :

Start-X #1 (Access cavity wall refinement): This non-active, lateral-cutting tip is used to create a straight access to the root canal. It refines the walls of the access cavity while avoiding accidental damage to the pulp chamber floor.

Start-X #2 (MB2 canal scouter): This active tip is designed to help locate the mesiobuccal second (MB2) canal, a notoriously difficult-to-find canal in upper molars. It removes the dentin that often conceals this canal's opening.

Start-X #3 (Canal openings scouter): This active tip is used to remove calcifications and other obstructions that block a clear path to the root canal system.

Start-X #4 (Metal post removal): Designed with a specific shape and a water port, this tip efficiently removes metal posts from inside the tooth. It can be used on both the top and sides of the post and its irrigation prevents overheating.

Start-X #5 (Pulp chamber floor anatomy): This thin, cylindrical tip reveals the original anatomy of the pulp chamber floor. It gently removes calcifications and filling materials, allowing for better identification of canal orifices. 

Key Specification :

The tips are made from hard-tempered, fracture-resistant stainless steel with a micro-milled active part. This design minimizes the risk of the abrasive diamond coating breaking off in the patient's mouth. They also feature a water port to cool the insert and prevent the tooth from overheating.
